Welcome

Ken’s Korner is a place where I will be sharing my strategies for the WABA.

As I have visited and had the opportunity to speak in many of our Association churches, my message is one of Biblical discipleship. A number have asked, why are you speaking on “discipleship” while your role is “missions”? I will address that here.

Missions begins and ends with Biblical discipleship. It begins as a new believer is discipled and prepared for mission work. It proceeds with the new disciple living his new life on mission. It ends with the disciple discipling others.

Unfortunately, many have watered down the term discipleship over the past number of years to fit into a comfortable lifestyle. We have translated discipleship into Biblical knowledge… “the more of the bible I know, the better Christian I am”. That is not true.  Biblical knowledge is not Biblical discipleship. It is one aspect of discipleship.

Biblical discipleship is placing the love of God above all else, the love of others no matter the differences, learning Christ’s teachings, living out Christ’s teachings and leading others to do the same. This is the Great Commission.

We must apply and live out biblical discipleship as we live a life on mission for Christ.
